People who have been usually make it a regular getaway for years to come. For those who haven’t experienced Burgau or maybe have been to the other end of the Algarve, Burgau can be found about 90km west of Faro Airport. That’s just less than 1 hour in a car, or a great transport company (we normally use A2B Transfers)

Burgau is nestled on the edge of a national park. It is still a working fishing village and the catch of the day can be seen in the local Cafes and Restaurants ready for dinner that evening! The beach is beautiful with enclosed and safe waters to take a dip, as well as the little rock pools with all kinds of Portuguese nature. Those that can’t sit still can choose to walk across the beautiful countryside (blogs of walks coming soon) to Luz or Salema on opposite directions. Anybody that likes to explore can enjoy Burgau as a great place to set a base for some extraordinary scenery and nature trails. If you have a car (or keen on public transport) the Fort of Sagress (around a 25 minute drive) is a must see as this is the most southern tip of Portugal, where the next piece of land is Africa or America!
If lazing around is more your forte on holiday then Burgau is perfect for you. The locals are truly fantastic and friendly and love to have anyone over to show their beautiful village. They all are normally quite good at English, although an attempt at a bit of Portuguese will always win them over! When you have to pack your bags to come back, you will take away a memory or two to treasure and more than likely a place you will want to return to, mentally and physically.
